This week we caught up with the wonderful Above The Clouds Stationery whose designs for invites, table settings, beer mats and other cool wedding stationery ideas will be sure to get you inspired!

Introducing, Above The Clouds Wedding Stationery

Say hello to Above the Clouds, a wedding stationery company founded by two freelance graphic designers who specialise in designing and making bespoke and original wedding invitations and stationery. They love to spend time guiding you through the design and print process ensuring that your wedding stationery is unique, original and personal to you, giving your guests a lasting first impression of your wedding.

They began their business in 2014 after designing their own wedding stationery, when they were asked by friends and family to create theirs too. Then through recommendations to others, they quickly began to grow. Over the years they have found ourselves working with lots of couples across the North East in Newcastle, Sunderland, Washington, Tyneside, Durham and Northumberland and even couples from across the UK covering weddings at home and abroad.

So guys, tell us a bit about your business, when you started and what inspired you?

There's two of us that design our stationery, both with a background in graphic design. Liam and myself, Michael, have been friends since nursery, through primary, secondary school and into university! We both graduated with 2:1 degrees in illustration and design and are now working together in our joint venture! Which we think is pretty unique! We started by designing our own wedding invitations for our own weddings and from there we started Above the Clouds around 5 years ago.

What do you most enjoy about your job?

We love the range of designs from one couple to the next. Every design we produce is very different to the last either by working with the couple to bring their ideas to life, or using out own creativity to create an original design from something as simple as a song lyric. It's wonderful to work with customers and make their vision come to life.

Tell us a wedding trend you’re loving this year!

We've had a bit of a boom our concertina folding invitations where all the info for guests is on one folding card with a tear off RSVP. Couples seem to like the idea of a one piece invite format instead of something more traditional.

What’s your favourite thing about Bonded Warehouse?

We're massive fans of industrial design, so Bonded Warehouse was top of our list of venues to work with and being on our doorstep is amazing! We're also immensely proud of how far we've come over the last few years in our business. We've achieved so much by working with some fantastic venues and looking forward to growing this even more with Bonded Warehouse. Attending your Wedding Showcase this past February was a great chance to show off the boards, invites, beer mats and other wedding stationery we've created for customers.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

What’s your funniest wedding story?

Not a wedding but it was in a church - Hugging a vicar at a funeral thinking that was the done thing because the two old ladies in front of me (that knew the vicar) did the same. Tears of sadness soon turned to tears of laughter by everyone behind me.

If you could work with any celebrity on their wedding, who would it be!

Jimi Hendrix! Just so I could meet Jimi Hendrix really!
